Hey y'all! I'm blogging from vacation! I'm on my annual Memorial Day "much needed, drop everything and escape" week of vacation down in Houston. I'm staying with one of my best friends and her family. And let me tell you, shopping with my 12 year old "niece" who was attempting to spend all of her birthday money is anything but relaxing. Sweet girl wore me and her mom out! I just can't shop like I used too. But after 50 miles in the mall, she escaped with some major loot and is quite possibly the most stylish 12 year-old!
Before I left, I changed out all of the decor for spring to summer in what I call my "Americana" room! I keep it up from Memorial day through July. And well, when August rolls around, you all just wait!
First things first, this is what I got to decorate around, bless him....
Now, to the pics of the transformation!
With the mantel, I added a cute red berry garland and then just a collection of rustic stars I've collected over the years. Add some apothecary jars, candle, wreath, and flag and all set! It's so cute!
Below the mantel, I love having something in the fireplace itself so I changed out the green star from the spring decor to this gold one and I changed out the throw rug on the hearth. Here's the finished product:
I changed out the pillows and moved some lamps around to spruce up the two areas I like to call the "reading nooks" yet I've never once sat down there to read....
With this red lamp shade, all I did was tie a ribbon around it and it made it so rustic. It really transformed the lamp and was so easy and cheap!
Now onto the dining room! One of my most loved possessions makes an appearance: my Williams Sonoma tablecloth! And by loved, I mean if the house is ever on fire, I'm grabbing this thing and the tablecloth below it!
Here's the place setting I came up with! I love the raffia tied around the napkins.
The centerpieces I just threw together but I think it turned out pretty well:
I had another garland I had intended on adding to the mantel but didn't have room for it and then it hit me, I could add it to the chandelier and voila! SO CUTE!
And here's the complete table:
Well that's it! I'm really happy with how it turned out this year. I know I'm a tad late but thanks to all those that have fought and continue to fight for our freedom every day. God Bless America y'all! Until next time, I'll be here working on my tan, drinking out of my mason jar! CHEERS!
