Seasonal shake-up!

Hey y'all! OK, so anyone that knows me already knows I like to change up the living room decor by season. The couch/furniture are neutral and well, let's be honest, I can fit a pig or rooster into any season! I've always wanted to be able to do my bedroom and bath the same way and this was the year! Let's blame in on this freaky winter-actually not winter quite yet-we've been having! I just had to get out of the house and do some shopping. And all that shopping aside, this re-do actually only cost me $75, which was impressive. That's the good thing about owning so much "stuff"; half of the things I used in the bathroom and bedroom I took from the living room. I got my linens a few years back and choose the brown and cream since it's a good neutral base I could add seasonal colors to. The red looks fantastic!

Let's start with the bathroom! It was by far the hardest and the most expensive. I essentially had to replace all the pink with red. I never knew I owned so much pink.... This picture inspired the bathroom!

Most of the money I spent were on the towels to display. All I own are various shades of pink apparently!

I had this grapevine wreath I haven't decorated yet so I just hung it up in place of a picture. Cheap and cute!
For my counter, I used to have a cute vintage pink wire basket to hold all my stuff like contact cleaner and lotions. I had this big red wooden bowl that worked perfectly to hold everything.
For the top of my cabinet, I hung the picture, swapped out the pink flowers for some red ones from my Christmas decor I wasn't using, and finished with some other decorative items from the house.
Now, onto the shower curtain/rug dilemma of 2013! I have NEVER in my life had such a hard time. I had a leopard rug I wanted to use in the bathroom so set out to buy a new shower curtain. Let's list the stores I've been to (and if you don't believe me, feel free to ask poor Dennis. He got to hear about every single unsuccessful trip. Bless his heart!):

6 Targets
4 Ross's
3 Marshall's
2 HomeGood's
2 TJ Maxx's
Walmart
Kirkland's
Macy's
JCP
Bed Bath & Beyond
Dillard's
Garden Ridge
Burlington Coat Factory
Big Lot's
Sear's

OK, well I lost count but as you can see, I was starting to get desperate! Alas, no shower curtain but the more I looked at it, the brown paisley one I had up actually goes. So then it was on to finding a new rug to match. I adore the rug I found at Garden Ridge! If you couldn't see, the tags are still on it because I'm debating if they actually match. I think it'll do until I can find THE shower curtain I want!
OK, that's the bathroom. I love pieces of it and still debating on the whole concept but I'm over it! Now, to the bedroom!

I hung up a pair of curtains I use in the living room from time to time and swapped out some pictures to update my "reading nook".
For the top of the armoire, I just bought some new red flowers to replace the pink ones:

I found this adorable basket to replace a pink one I had. I think it will be staying out year-round! Too cute!
For one of my nightstands, I used the lamp from the living room I had to put up because the chair and end table it's on is where the Christmas tree went. It matched perfectly! I also used some more of those flowers from my Christmas decor to add a touch of red in an apothecary jar on my jewelry armoire.
For the bed, I found this adorable red pillow for $6 at Ross and then replaced the pictures behind my bed with one of my favorite wreaths:
I never got a full pic with the curtains and all but here's the bed and the two nightstands:
I just LOVE how it's all turning out. I figured I'll add to it next season but I managed to get the look I wanted this year while still be thrifty!

OK well, I hope y'all enjoyed the post. I'm laid up in bed with this snotty/nasal/sinus crap  I've had for a month. I did interrupt my viewing of Lifetime Christmas movies to bring you this post; that's love right there! Y'all have a great weekend and very Merry Christmas if I don't post again before then!

God bless!

It's beginning to look (and feel!) like Fall!

Ahhhhh! My favorite time of year, for decorating of course. It's hard when it's still in the 90's but thankfully, some cooler weather has settled here in North Texas and I'm feeling warm and cozy with all the autumn decor up! Now, I'm not sure if my roommate has the same "warm and fuzzy" feelings. The stuff I make that poor boy do; bless his heart! I bet he just dreaded reading that message, at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon: "Can we go to Walmart for pumpkins when you get home?" He'd probably tell you he wish he would have just stayed at work....

How do you like my workstation? Pretty cool, drink holder and all! Thanks Mom & Dad for the snazzy ladder!
I might have went a little overboard on the mesh ribbon this year but I had to jazz up the garland. I can't afford those expensive ones at Hobby Lobby. Goodness gracious, those things are crazy pricey! I bought the cheapest one on half price and added the ribbon as well as some orange lights to plug in at night! It's cute enough for me!
I took apart my wreath from last year and added the mesh ribbon as well:
Now, onto the great search for pumpkins and mums to complete the outside decor. Roomie was just THRILLED we had to go to not only one but two Walmart's in search of flowers!
Oh, the things I will do for my decorations! We were both sneezy and itchy after the drive home.
After all said and done, I love the outside!
I put up the Halloween wreath I made a few years back on the patio to get in the spirit there as well...
Now, let's start with the inside autumn decor. First things first, I LOVE a good bargain. Well, the bargain shopper I am found these leaf and berry garlands at the Dollar Tree! A DOLLAR! Well, after working with the berries and the mesh ribbon, I wish I would have splurged haha! I had berries EVERYWHERE and still keep finding them!
I quite possibly might have the greatest collection of metal stars. I used the mustard color one along with a pumpkin to complete the center of the mantel.
I also found these $1 plastic pumpkins and placed them in my favorite glass jars on the mantel.
Here's the complete mantel:
I added some leaves to the entertainment center and one of my faves: my cooper lamp shade for candles!  I don't even remember where I purchased that but it was super cheap and so cute!
I spruced up the reading nook and swapped out lampshades. I had this brown grosgrain ribbon that came on a throw I purchased and saved. I just knew I could find a use for it down the road. I looped it around the shade and tied it into a bow. So clever and an easy update to any lampshade.
A lantern, grapevine pumpkin, flower arrangement and swapped out the pillows to complete the reading nook:
I also changed the curtains back to my red ones that I leave up through Christmas. To go with the curtains, I also change the pillow covers on the couch. IKEA has great pillow covers that are affordable and a great way to update for seasons.
I'm happy with the way it turned out! So very warm and cozy even with the air conditioner still running....
My dining table is simple this year; I used my grapevine chargers topped with some coppery brown ones I got in the dollar section at Target. Then a collection of red and yellow dishes, copper pot with flowers and copper candlesticks complete it:
I also swapped out the buffet table arrangement for a more fall-like one. I just added a bunch of flowers I had purchased, wrapped a burlap ribbon around the glass vase and DONE!
And that's a wrap! Hope you all enjoy. Decorating is a tough job but somebody has to do it. You know what's more exhausting than the actual decorating? Finding somewhere to put all the decorations I take down! I'm slowly but surely running out of space! Y'all have a wonderful and blessed weekend. I'm going to kick back, relax and watch some college football with my new fave drink. Cheers and WPS!

Woo Pig Y'all

Ahhhhh that lovely time is almost upon us folks! One of my most favorite seasons. And yes, I said "season"! I'm talking about some good ol' SEC football and it's one of my most favorite times of the year to decorate for. Lucky for me, my Alma Mater's lovely mascot fits perfectly into our house decor. So why not go big, huh? Also, I'd like to go ahead and apologize for the length of this post. I debated and debated breaking it into smaller posts. Y'all that know me well know how I debate every single decision I make. So alas, after about 24 hours I figured, what the heck, let's make it a big post! It's also almost all pictures so I kind of think it's like those picture books we all enjoyed when we were little!

Ok, first things first, my beloved mantel! This entire living/dining room makeover started with my "Woo Pig Y'all" burlap football I made with a group of girls from work on one of our "craft nights".
And from there, I just added lots of pigs I gathered from my bookcases as well as a couple of flower arrangements from my home office.

Final touch, a red and white berry garland and the mantel is complete!
Well, one cannot just stop with a mantel. DUH! Every season the entire living room gets a makeover. I added my favorite embroidered pillow to one of the chairs:
I had to change out the curtains as well so I stole the beige ones from the kitchen. Ok, here's the story with that. I thought well since they were down, I should go ahead and wash and dry them. Well, those suckers were super wrinkled so I made my way into my roommate's room to borrow the iron. While I was in there, I stumbled upon this cute red pillow on his bed. He's out of town so I text him that he'll get it back in October when the Autumn decor goes up! I added it to the ottoman as well as a pig pillow. The end table got a picture from the U of A campus and yet another pig to spruce up that seating area.

And well for the curtains, just a simple red and white polka dot ribbon to tie them back!
I also love having something inside of the fireplace which we don't use. It kills my allergies so it's main purpose is for decorating of course! I added this cute red pitcher.
Now, any good southern household needs a team mascot box of Kleenex! Am I right or am I right?
All said and done with the living room now and I can tell you one person that is in HOG HEAVEN....
He has such a pretty pen, don't you think?
Now, onto the dining room! The entire table this year was based around these adorable pig place card holders I got on clearance for like $6!

I found these adorable burlap tags at Hobby Lobby which were of course half price, and decided to use them as the place cards. I just simply added a cute ribbon to them.
I used two chargers this time because I wanted the grapevine ones to tie into all of the burlap.
I can never just have one centerpiece so I made this grouping by stealing some things from the kitchen, home office and living room. Soooo cute!
And lastly, a simple red grosgrain ribbon to the chandelier shades:
And here's the completed dining room! LOVE!!!
WHEW! That was a lot of work but I am just tickled pink how cute everything turned out this year! I still have to decorate the outside and make a wreath for my favorite pro-team so that post is coming soon. Until then, I'm taking a break and watching the rest of this pre-season NFL game while I wish and pray from my Hogs to have a great season! WOO PIG Y'ALL!
